Designed by Sori Yanagi, a Japanese industrial designer renowned for his simple and practical products ranging from furniture to kitchenware. As the son of the founder of the Mingei movement, Sori's designs were drawn from the aesthetics of Japanese folk crafts; finding beauty in the everyday objects made by unknown artists, focusing on using natural and local resources, traditional techniques and methods, and handmade production. The stainless steel cutlery series began in 1974 when Sori collaborated with Nihon Yoshokki in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan to design kitchen products that are beautiful and functional. The dessert spoon is made of 18-8 stainless steel that is highly durable and lightweight, and its seamless design makes it easy to clean. Designed slightly smaller than the dinner spoon, it has a wide scooping surface and can be used for a wide range of food like yogurt, curry, and soup. Great to use alongside a fork to scoop pasta as well. Features a matte finish and a satiny texture that comes with a pleasant thickness and weight in the hands. Dishwasher safe but hand washing is recommended.
