Handcrafted in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture of Japan, an area known for samurai swordsmithing with over 700 years of history making knives, this bread knife is designed with detailed attention given to the blades. Made from three layers of stainless steel (High carbon molybdenum vanadium steel, AUS8, low carbon martensite steel) with 99.9% 24 carat gold plating, the blade features two types of serrated edges. The fine sharp edge on the tip easily cuts through hard crusts and the gentle curved edge on the center for smooth slices. From chiffon cakes to baguettes, this bread knife is designed to create thin slices with minimal crumbs. The handle is shaped with soft edges for a comfortable grip and a brushed matte finish that gives an antique feel. Made by craftsmen at SHIZU HAMONO, a knife manufacturing company established in 1980 using traditional techniques with updated standards and a take on contemporary design.
